Welder powers on but has no output
The machine lights up and the fan runs, but you get no arc. Start with the parts outside the case.
What to check first
- Check that the ground clamp is on clean, bare metal and tight.
- Check that the work cable and the torch or stinger cable are fully plugged in and tight.
- Check your settings and the process switch (MIG, TIG, stick).
- Check the trigger, foot pedal or remote. Try another one if you have it.
- Look for a thermal or fault light. If it is on, let the machine cool with the fan running and try again.
- Try another torch, stinger or ground cable if you have one.
Safety: Do not open the case. Welders hold a dangerous charge inside even when they are unplugged.
What it usually is
- A broken or worn cable, torch or trigger
- A bad contactor or relay
- A failed part in the output section
- A control problem inside the machine
